  • The Glutathione Revolution: Fight Disease, Slow Aging, & Increase Energy w/ Dr. Nayan Patel
By now, many of you have heard of my coined term, The Mitochondrial Triad, which comprises the three most effective and efficacious ways (in my opinion) to optimize mitochondrial function. At the end of the day, mitochondrial function is the foundation of wellness and longevity until proven otherwise. With that being said, The Triad is not set in stone and is fluid based on new information, research, etc., meaning it could grow to a quad, quint and beyond. However, it would take a powerful modality, molecule, etc. with rigorous studies to make the cut. But by the end of today's conversation with renowned pharmacist and author, Dr. Nayan Patel, the case can be made that glutathione should be heavily considered. The kicker with glutathione is that we produce it endogenously, so we have some control over its abundance or depletion in our body. After all, it is the master antioxidant in our body and quenches oxidative stress, so given its powerful electron-donating properties (similar, but not exactly the same as methylene blue and C60), you can imagine the health benefits it provides when at proper levels and what happens when our body is depleted.Dr. Patel is a sought after pharmacist, wellness expert, and thought leader in his industry. He has been working with physicians since 1999 to custom develop medication for their clients and design a patient-specific drug and nutrition regimen. He has been the pharmacist of choice to celebrities, CEOs and physicians themselves. He recently published his first comprehensive book, The Glutathione Revolution. After 11 years of clinical research on the master antioxidant, glutathione, Dr. Patel and his team developed a patented technology to deliver glutathione topically, changing the game on how best to absorb GSH systemically. From this technology he additionally developed The Auro GSH Antioxidant Delivery System to create a skincare line to deliver antioxidants more efficiently and effectively than ever before at potent concentrations. If you found the information in today's episode with Dr. Nayan Patel particularly interesting and/or compelling, please share it with a family member, friend, colleague and/or anyone that you think could benefit and be illuminated by this knowledge. • Weight Loss Strategies of a Mitochondriac
Now that we have flipped the calendar to 2025, it's traditional to make resolutions  — or more so, well-intentioned goals that fizzle out by the end of the first or second month of the year. Sound familiar? In fact, researchers suggest that only 9% of Americans that make resolutions complete them. Not surprisingly, about 50% of New Year's resolutions are centered around weight loss goals.Weight loss any time of the year can be a difficult, seemingly elusive aspiration. And with as many diet and health books that are published yearly, you would expect someone to have cracked the code to the holy grail of simple weight loss. Unfortunately, rates of being overweight and obese continue to trend up, up and away, particularly in the US. Is this a health problem that can be tackled by optimizing mitochondrial function? The answer is.... a resounding, YES!From a mitochondrial health perspective, effective weight loss strategies focus on enhancing mitochondrial function, increasing energy production, and improving metabolic flexibility. Healthy mitochondria play a crucial role in fat oxidation, energy efficiency, and metabolic balance. In today's episode, I review the mitochondrial benefits of a 24-hour fast, take a deep dive into (the virtually unknown hormone) leptin and its profound impact on weight management and then finish with the top 10 weight loss strategies from a mitochondrial perspective. • Red Light Therapy & Acupuncture, Fascia & Cupping: A Deep Dive into Health Strategies w/ Dr. Chris Motley [Top Episode of 2024!]
Over the next week or so, I wanted to reshare the top several episodes of 2024! These are essentially "voted on" by you, the listeners, based on the episodes that had the most downloads over the course of the past calendar year. For longtime listeners of the podcast, I think this will be a welcomed revisit of the compelling, invigorating conversations had with these guests; for newer listeners of The Red Light Report, you are undoubtedly in for a treat. Sit back, relax and enjoy learning from some of the best minds and thought leaders in the wellness and longevity spaces!- The more and more I learn about Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and acupuncture, the more I am intrigued and it just makes intuitive sense. It also helps when you learn this deep and complex knowledge from someone as intelligent and articulate as (now) three-time guest, Dr. Chris Motley. Long-time listeners of the show are familiar with Dr. Motley and his amazing command and intuition when it comes to TCM and other holistic modalities; new listeners.... you are in for a treat! He is by far one of my favorite humans to talk with, on and off the mic. Dr. Motley not only speaks from his depth of learning the information, but even more so from hands-on experience from his full day's of treating patients.
